MONTORO-BELMONT COMPLETES 11,109 HA. CLAIM
STAKING IN ATHABASCA BASIN, SASKATCHEWAN
International Montoro Resources Inc. (“IMT”)
and Belmont Resources Inc. (“BEA”) have completed
the staking of 11,109 hectares adjoining the Companies 750
hectare Crackingstone River Property (“CRR”) located
on the north shore of Lake Athabasca and 8 km. SW of Uranium
City, Saskatchewan.
Following the preliminary evaluation on the CRR property
visit by independent consulting geologist, R.A. Bernatchez,
P.Eng., additional staking was recommended to the west and
north, based on the release of the results of a 2001 SNRC
Airborne Magnetic and Radiometric Survey by the Saskatchewan
Geological Survey of the Tazin Lake (Uranium City) area. The
magnetic resolution of this area has clearly defined the Crackingstone
Fault which is the westerly extension of the St. Louis Fault.
The St. Louis Fault is host to the Ace, Fay, Verna, and Bolger
deposits. The Cinch Lake Uranium mine is located at the easterly
extension of the Crackingstone Fault at its intersection with
the northeasterly trending Black Bay Fault. The Crackingstone
Fault extends westerly through the CRR property and onto the
newly staked ground. Two additional northeasterly trending
faults, the Spot Lake and Powerline Fault intersects the Crackingstone
Fault west of the CRR property and onto the new claims. The
2001 SNRC Airborne Radiometric Survey has identified 15 strong-moderate
and 20 moderate-weak radiometric anomalies over the newly
staked ground.
The newly staked claims now adjoin a large claim block to
the south owned by CanAlaska Uranium Ltd. (formerly CanAlaska
Ventures- “CVV”). Cameco Corp. (“CCO”),
the world’s largest uranium producer, holds a block
of claims to the west of IMT and BEA property.
The companies have seen an increase of activity in the northwest
area of the Athabasca Basin with a recent announcement by
JNR Resources Inc. (“JNN”) that airborne electromagnetic
and magnetic geophysical surveys are underway on the 10,655
hectare Crackingstone project. JNR has contracted Geotech
Ltd. to fly a 1,350 line-km survey over the Crackingstone
property using its helicopter-borne VTEM systems. The JNR
claims are located nearby to the south and southeast of the
CRR property.
